Our extracurricular activities have been specifically designed to develop other personal dimensions of our students, taking into account their holistic education and multiple intelligence. Some of these activities are:
Pre primary and Primary education
MODERN DANCE
FOR STUDENTS: From Y1 to Y6
Modern dance stimulates corporal expression, new ways to communicate and to express the students' creativity and their sense of coordination and rhythm. It contributes to self knowledge and to explore the environment through their movement skills.
DEBAT CLUB
FOR STUDENTS: Y5 and Y6
Training in communication and personal leadership foster the confidence of children and youth in themselves and enables them to argue correctly in public, with solidity and coherence
CHOIR
FOR STUDENTS: From kindergarten to adults
Through the game, you learn to know all the possibilities and benefits that singing brings us, the importance of group work, to work on body expression, to feel our emotions, using our voice correctly. In primary education, brings the world of music and singing to children, enhancing attention, concentration and hearing, depending on the work of the voice and rhythm.
ENGLISH SKILLS
FOR STUDENTS: From kindergarten to Y6
Our students learn English through an experience-based approach. Our method, based on active and participatory playing and communicating, encourages our children not only to learn, but also to love learning English.
CHESS
FOR STUDENTS: From Y2 to Y6
On of the most popular table games in the world that enhances cognitive skills in people of all ages, but very specially in younger students.
ALTERNATIVE SPORTS
FOR STUDENTS: Y5 and Y6
Alternative proposal to the sports of mass that contemplate other games and that base the work in equipment and the cooperation. These games and sports move away from the competitive goal of sport.
SPORTS INITIATION
FOR STUDENTS: Y1 and Y2
Learning to play from the acquisition of coordinative skills and varied psychomotor proposals. Contact to assess personal development around individual and collective game activities.
YOGA
FOR STUDENTS: Y1 and Y4
The practice of yoga has multiple benefits that favor the learning of our students: it enhances the development of attention and concentration, promotes harmony and emotional balance, promotes relaxation and strengthens the muscles and correct incorrect postures. Games and stories will be introduced in the session: warm up, yoga postures (asanas), breathing and relaxation
SPORTS AND GAMES
FOR STUDENTS: Y4 to Y6
Activity that helps develop physical skills through play, with the aim of discovering and enjoying physical activity and sports initiation for boys and girls.
COOPERATIVE GAMES
FOR STUDENTS: Y3 and Y4
The main objective of the activity is to achieve, through aid and cooperation, a common goal for the group. Generate values and contribute to diminish the manifestations of aggressiveness in the game is the basis of its methodology.
THEATRE
FOR STUDENTS: Kindergarten levels 5 and 6: primary education Y5 and Y6
Theatre helps children to gain self-confidence and to be less introvert and shy. Our students learn how to use voice, symbolic games and corporal expression to communicate.
In primary education, it allows you to develop and externalize different aspects related to your personality. They will more easily assimilate the space-time notions, develop the imagination and learn to listen to themselves and others; increased sensitivity and valuing group work.
Compulsory secondary education and basic vocational training
PHILOSOPHY 6/18
In this space, students work according to the guidelines of Matthew Lipman's method, Philosophy for Children, an educational proposal that gives instruments to students to develop complex thinking (high order thinking) in a community of inquiry.
DEBATE AND ORATORY CLUB
The objective of the activity is communicative work from the argumentative perspective. Construction of reasoning, basic strategies of public speaking and participation in the League of Autonomous Debate are the axes the experience.
COMIC WORKSHOP
Introduction to the basic techniques of illustration and comics.
WEB-PAGE DESIGN
With the key objective of understanding the basic configurations of the web network we become creators and programmers creating our own digital environment.
INTRODUCTION TO THE LANGUAGE OF SIGNS
Sign language is a natural language of deaf people thanks to which they can establish a basic information channel for the relationship with their social environment. We started in this scenario trying to know a little better their alphabet and its main elements of communication.
INTRODUCTION TO THE CHINA LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
The language of the most populated country in the world becomes a challenge and an opportunity. Students will learn elementary notions to discover their complexity and begin their learning.
ENGLISH FOR TOURISM
English language classes focused directly on the labor world and the tourism sector. An opportunity for improvement and deepening competence.
THEATER AND STAGE INTERPRETATION
Professors trained in the Higher School of Dramatic Art of the Balearic Islands offer students the key notions to discover dramaturgy. Improvisations, mimicry, gestural work ... A set of tools that will help us enter this fascinating world.
INITIATION TO THE CLIMB
Activity that tries to combine concentration, elasticity and physical condition to achieve different challenges in the climbing walls of the school.
Sixth Form
ROBOTICS & DRONS
Robotics is, with no doubt, one of the jobs of the future due to its countless applications in all areas of automatization. Sant Josep Obrer is educating the future experts in this field. Watching the world from above with our drones is good fun … and we mean it both literally and metaphorically. In Sant Josep Obrer the students learn how to assemble and fly drones, as well as the relevant regulations.
WEB DESIGN
Companies and organizations of all kind need modern and attractive websites to succeed in highly competitive markets. This is precisely what our students learn how to do in this creativity workshop
3D MODELLING AND PRINTING
To device and design through a highly specialised software and to print 3D objects is one of the creative activities that we carry out at Sant Josep Obrer, with practical applications, both in leisure and in professional areas.
YOB: YourOwn Business / Jobs, jobs, jobs
Current trends in labour market point at the now well-known principle of “not looking for a job, but creating one’s own job”. Entrepreneurship and self-employment are the main aims of this workshop that complements the skills acquired by social science students in their economics and business subjects .
SCRATCH AND CODING
Coding is one of the most demanded skills by companies. In our Sixth Form we have incorporated coding through Scratch, a fun and user-friendly system.
