Germany, France and the United Kingdom are now closer to Sant Josep Obrer. Our Exchange Programmes with some of our partner schools (King Edward VII and Sheffield High School in the UK, Lycée Françoise in Toulose, France and Sant Angela Gymnasium in Cologne, Germany) allow our students to attend lessons and enjoy many cultural and leisure activities and discover, at the same time, the language and culture of these countries, together with classmates and teachers.
In Sant Josep Obrer your language skills become official certificates with international recognition: a real expressway to the labour market, further studies, scholarships, etc. In all cases, both the exams and the lessons take place in the schools
English: Spain’s Official Language School certificate, Trinity College and Oxford Test of English
German: Spain’s Official Language School certificate and Goethe Institut’s official certificate
French: DELF/DALF examinations (partnership with Alliance Française).
Sant Josep Obrer’s “Creativity Workshops” develop our student’s technological skills helping them gain professional access to the most dynamic industries. Robotics is, with no doubt, one of the jobs of the future due to its countless applications in all areas of automatization. Sant Josep Obrer is educating the future experts in this field.
Sant Josep Obrer’s “Creativity Workshops” develop our student’s technological skills helping them gain professional access to the most dynamic industries. “Whatchabout” is a new virtual/augmented reality app designed by one of our teachers. The students at Sant Josep Obrer use this app for a whole range of practical applications in tourism, marketing, education, etc.
Sant Josep Obrer’s “Creativity Workshops” develop our student’s technological skills helping them gain professional access to the most dynamic industries. Watching the world from above with our drones is good fun … and we mean it both literally and metaphorically. In Sant Josep Obrer the students learn how to assemble and fly drones, as well as the relevant regulations.
Sant Josep Obrer’s “Creativity Workshops” develop our student’s technological skills helping them gain professional access to the most dynamic industries. Companies and organizations of all kind need modern and attractive websites to succeed in highly competitive markets. This is precisely what our students learn how to do in this creativity workshop
Although IT-1 and IT-2 are part of the official Sixth Form curriculum, they are much more than conventional subjects. To start with they are taught by reputed professionals in the IT industry. Our students develop practical and professional skills in advanced computer science.
Sant Josep Obrer’s heart beats when we get closer to people in need both in our direct environment (charity projects in our neighbourhood and volunteer programmes) and beyond (e.g. with our twinned school in Peru and through projects with Majorcan Missions abroad). The way we have chosen to help is quite educational and special too: we organize parties and festivals with all the students getting involved.
In a technology dominated environment, Sant Josep Obrer vindicates all inherently human qualities that are “non machinable”. Our debate and oratory club and advanced training in communication and personal leadership foster our youngsters’ self-confidence and teaches them how to express themselves in public in a secure and coherent manner. Moreover, students can take part in a Debate League and in an international oratory competition.
To device and design through a highly specialised software and to print 3D objects is one of the creative activities that we carry out at Sant Josep Obrer, with practical applications, both in leisure and in professional areas.
The innovative environment and the dynamic teaching techniques at Sant Josep Obrer have also taken over charity and value-based education. Almost every month we organise themed parties (Ireland, Australia, India, Germany, Halloween, Chinese New Year, Valentine’ Day among others) that combine the joy and passion of our students with a Christian and value-based education.
SJO*PRO: proactivity, professionalism…In Y11, we apply the Project Based Learning approach. Every quarter, students work with at least a common project with contents and techniques of three different subjects. They learn how to do research, to share knowledge, to do team-work and to reach useful conclusions and put them at the service of society.
Hard work and effort are absolute values in personal education. But such education can still be perfectly stimulating and attractive. This is why Sant Josep Obrer applies on a daily basis a whole range of innovative methods: self-evaluation software, students-produced and edited videos, peer-to-peer learning, flipped classroom, cooperative learning, dramatization, etc.
To use science and knowledge to improve our closest environment and society on the whole is the aim of the Service Learning approach that we apply in Y11. A few examples are the initiatives (lead by the students) to recruit blood and mellow donors, pink-tax research and campaigns, food collection, etc.
